| The VVD party, its postercampaign and the elections in Rotterdam
Zaterdag 8 maart 2014
Say no more! The Dutch People-party for Democracy and Freedom (PDF) sent a message to all its inhabitants: "In Rotterdam We Speak Dutch."
Unfortunately not all citizens of this famous Dutch internationally orientated town are able to understand this message.
We asked a few famous Rotterdam people to give their opinion about this statement.
Graziano Pelle ("The man with the Golden Elbow", one of the mostly feared attackers of Feijenoord Rotterdam) replied shortly. "I have seen more than enough advertisement-boards in my carreer. I tried to hit one two weeks ago. Since then I try to avoid them. Furthermore, I don't speak Dutch. So, I don't have an opinion about the message."
Samuel Armenteros, fluent in Swedish as well as in Spanish, was more outspoken. "We are one big family here in Rotterdam. Often we walk hand in hand on the beautiful paths along the river Rotte. It makes me feel at home. We need little words to understand eachother."
The night mayor of Rotterdam, Sir Jules Deelder, was not availlable for any comments. A spokesman referred to one of his poems: "Heelal, hoe langer men kijkt, hoe groter het lijkt." He added: "The longer you listen to the words of Mr M. Rutte, the more important he thinks he is, so please stop this discussion."
Next week there are local elections in The Netherlands. The Netherlands, one of the countries in Europe with a big number of immigrants, tourists and salesmen is now trying to close its borders completely. Only people speaking Dutch are welcome.
The message is clear. We wish the PDF party (in Dutch the VVD) a lot of success. Arrividerci, auf wiedersehen, goodbye and good luck, do widzenia, au revoir en de mazzel.
